Bethesda has honoured a fan’s attempts to pay for Fallout 4 with nothing but 2,240 bottle caps, the currency from the game.

Normally it costs around £40 to pre-order Fallout 4, but one cheeky fan has managed to convince publisher Bethesda to sell the game to him for a box full of bottle caps.

In the post-apocalyptic world of the game bottle caps are the currency use by in-game characters, but they’re not generally considered as legal tender in the real world.

Since fan Seth, aka GatorMacheteJr, was the first one to try his luck though, and because it’s good publicity, Bethesda has let him go through with the deal.
