Nintendo NX: ‘Expanding on existing hardware is dull’

The first real clue about Nintendo’s next console suggests it won’t be a simple upgrade, but something that will ‘surprise players’.

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has spoken a little more about Nintendo’s next console, currently codenamed NX and only recently announced to investors.

‘If you only expand upon existing hardware, it’s dull,’ Iwata told Japanese newspaper Nikkei, as translated by Kotaku.

‘In some shape or form, we’re always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person’s video gaming life.’
