As August approaches, major companies around the world are starting to publish their results for the previous fiscal quarter, April 1 to June 30, 2018. For Sony, this is an opportunity to the point of sales of the PS4 .

The PS4 continues at its cruising speed: after the 79 million consoles sold at the end of March, we are today at nearly 82.2 million. During the last fiscal quarter, the machine thus found 3.2 million additional takers , a tiny drop of 0.1 million compared to the same period last year. Results that push Sony to optimism: the firm now hopes to sell 17 million PS4 in the current fiscal year (April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019) instead of 16 million originally planned.

It’s now only a matter of weeks before the Playstion 4 catches up with its big sister, the PS3, which has counted nearly 86.9 million buyers in the world according to the latest figures. It would take its place as the fourth best-selling home console of all time, behind PlayStation 2, PlayStation and Wii, the Xbox 360 being just behind with 85.8 million.
