Key art from EA’s first Star Wars game has been leaked online, suggested space battles with TIE Fighters, X-wings, and more.
If you want to remain spoiler free about the The Force Awakens then we advise being very careful about using the Internet this weekend, as the Star Wars Celebration event in California starts soon and there are already lots of leaked images floating around.
But you needn’t worry about Star Wars: Battlefront, as there still hasn’t been anything shown from that that is from anything other than the three original films.
The image above seems to be key art for the game and it doesn’t show anything that wasn’t in either the original Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back.
You can see AT-AT and AT-ST walkers, which were already known to be in the game, and for the first time space-based vehicles such as the X-wing starfighter, TIE Fighter, and Imperial Star Destroyer.
Although they could just be there for effect this does seem to imply there will be ship-to-ship combat, which was certainly a mainstay of the original series of Battlefront games.
But the complete lack of anything to do with The Force Awakens is somewhat surprising, with previous reports suggesting that Battlefront will include elements from the movie’s opening. While additional elements will be added in later via DLC.
You’d think EA would be okay using the new look stormtroopers at least, since they were in the film’s teaser trailer, but not even that. In fact developer DICE made a point to release a teaser image today that features an old school stormtrooper.
More concrete information should could come with the game’s first proper gameplay reveal, which is scheduled for tomorrow at 6.30pm BST.
Star Wars Celebration itself starts tonight though, with live streams available at StarWars.com.
