D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die (PC) – so good it’s good

The follow-up to Deadly Premonition is no longer an Xbox One exclusive and it doesn’t use Kinect, but does it still have the old SWERY magic?

Deadly Premonition is not a game that’s ‘so bad it’s good’. Quite where the intentional strangeness ends and the technical incompetence takes over we don’t think even creator Hidetaka ‘SWERY’ Suehiro knows. But whether by luck or judgement it all added to the game’s Twin Peaks-inspired atmosphere, and as clumsy and inconsistent as it was Deadly Premonition still has some of the most memorable characters and ambitious storytelling in modern gaming. And D4 isn’t far behind.
